Andrés Hernández es director, productor y director de fotografía con más de una década de experiencia en cine independiente. Su trabajo se centra en proyectos arriesgados y personales que combinan narrativas auténticas con un estilo visual expresivo. Es Master in Fine Arts en Cinematografía por la New York Film Academy, Los Ángeles, miembro de la Society of Camera Operators (SOC), EE. UU. Y Realizador de Cine y TV de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
A lo largo de su carrera, ha sido reconocido en festivales internacionales. En 2018, recibió el Premio a Mejor Dirección de Fotografía en Die Seriale (Alemania) y el Premio del Público en el RED Studios Competition en Los Ángeles, California (EE. UU.), consolidando su mirada visual en la industria.
En 2024, la película Adiós al Amigo, en la que trabajó como director de fotografía y operador de cámara, obtuvo el Premio del Público en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Tokio (Japón). Su estreno nacional tuvo lugar en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena de Indias (FICCI) 2025, donde también fue galardonada con el Premio India Catalina del Público a mejor largometraje de Ficción.
Como productor y director, su ópera prima KMKZ: Salvaje, Libre y Valiente es un largometraje independiente de 87 minutos, en el que también se desempeñó como director de fotografía y cámara. La película fue ganadora de dos premios WIP en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara 2023 y recibió el estímulo de postproducción del FDC 2022. Actualmente, KMKZ busca su premiere internacional para el 2025, llevando su mirada cruda y vibrante del cine independiente a nuevas audiencias.
Su enfoque visual se caracteriza por el uso expresivo del color y la luz, apostando por imágenes que refuerzan la intimidad de sus historias y el realismo de sus personajes.
Andrés Hernández is a director, producer, and cinematographer with over a decade of experience in independent filmmaking. His work focuses on bold, personal projects that blend authentic narratives with a visually expressive style. He holds an MFA in Cinematography from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, is a member of the Society of Camera Operators (SOC) in the U.S., and has a degree in Film and Television from the National University of Colombia.
Throughout his career, he has been recognized at international film festivals. In 2018, he received the Best Cinematography Award at Die Seriale (Germany) and the Audience Award at the RED Studios Competition in Los Angeles, California (USA), solidifying his visual identity in the industry.
In 2024, the film Goodbye to My Friend, in which he worked as Director of Photography and Camera Operator, won the Audience Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival (Japan). Its national premiere took place at the 2025 Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI), where it also received the India Catalina Audience Award for best feature film.
As a producer and director, his debut feature KMKZ: Wild, Free, and Brave is an 87-minute independent film in which he also served as Director of Photography and Camera Operator. The film won two WIP awards at the 2023 Guadalajara International Film Festival and received a post-production grant from the Colombian Film Development Fund (FDC) in 2022. KMKZ is currently seeking its international premiere for 2025, bringing his raw and vibrant vision of independent cinema to new audiences.
His visual approach is defined by expressive use of color and light, creating images that enhance the intimacy of his stories and the realism of his characters.
